Day 4
The drive from Butte, Montana to Idaho was spectacular! Snowcapped mountain ranges lined the interstate and I had a chance to dream what it must have been like for those early settlers on the plains. What an incredible backdrop for life - words like awesome, breathtaking, immense, and dazzling come to mind. I never got tired of looking up at the ranges and the huge evergreens that enveloped the mountainsides.
On the mp3 player - John Rzeznick's words echoed in my ears as I watched God's creation unfold before us ...
All my fears have pushed you out, I wish for things that I don't need,
And what I chase won't set me free...
Looking at all this - it seemed to fit that there is much in life that's insignificant and yet get's my attention for reasons I'm not always sure of and being face to face with God's creative power put those things in perspective. Thanks God for those moments today.
Travis provided the soundtrack for the journey today as he sang "Ain't no mountain high enough, Ain't no valley low enough, Ain't no river wide enough to keep me away from you."
That's Marvin Gaye but it sounds a lot like Paul who penned in Romans 8 - "neither height not depth not anything else in all creation will be able to seperate us from the love of God revealed to us in Christ Jesus." Well - the rocks were certainly calling out today to remind us of God's love and presence. I remember Don Miller's take on creation - that perhaps the stars and mounains were created to dazzle us ... well today - we were dazzled!
And the adventure continues ...
